Obituary of Craig Marotta

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the peaceful passing of Craig Marotta, 52 of Rutherford, New Jersey, on March 27, 2021.

Born August 17, 1968 to the beloved Elaine Marotta, predeceased in 2010, and Joseph F. Marotta of Holiday City, New Jersey.  His loving, close knit family, all located in New Jersey, eldest brother Joseph C. Marotta and wife Lillian, Brian Marotta and wife Gracie,  Anthony Marotta and wife Kim, Pete Marotta, and his favorite and only sister Kim and brother-in-law Anthony Van Herk Sr. will miss him dearly.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews who love him like no other.  Joseph Marotta, Tanya and husband Matt Dombrowski, Keri Marotta, Melissa Marotta, Brian Marotta, Anthony and wife Chelsea Marotta, Michelle Marotta, Peter Marotta, Brooke Marotta, Anthony Van Herk Jr, Andrew Van Herk, Alex Van Herk and predeceased by beloved nephew Michael Marotta.  

Craig had many friends as he was one of a kind in many ways.  He was passionate in life and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach.  He was an avid, life long Giants football fan and loved the game of baseball as well, always rooting for the Yankees.
 
Craig attended Rutherford High School and was most recently employed with Cleanscape Construction, Montvale.  He had been a carpenter in the construction field throughout his professional career.  He was an extremely hard worker, as he lived just as hard as he worked.  Craig was a man with an incredible heart and would be there in a flash if you needed him.  

Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with cancer and had a long challenging road ahead of him.  Gratefully he passed peacefully in his sleep.

His family finds comfort as we know he is at peace and finally has his mom all to himself up there.  As a cousin described, he is now our angel with strength, as we all know what a strong man he was here on earth and had the determination to fight his way through any battle. 

Services are private due to Covid precautions.   Donations can be made on his behalf to the American Cancer Society.
